Canon USA in partnership with Vimeo has announced a new breed of contest where photographers are asked to take HD short movies that will start and end with a still image.

Although open to ony US residents, it is an exciting contest made of seven (7) chapters. The contest does not only brings the photography and the filmography on the same stage but it does also create an interesting environment by forcing the applicants to co-film the whole story.

The contest starts with Vincent Laforet extra ordinary short video that is filmed with Canon EOS 7D. Each photographer is required to start its film with the still image shown at the previous chapter's selected film. The photographers are also required to end their film with a still image which will aspire the next filmmaker.

In Canon's words the contest aims to pose the question to everyone, what do you see beyond the still?

Prizes:

• A Canon 7D or Canon 5D Mark II Camera
• Choice of Select Canon Lens
• A trip to shoot film with Vincent Laforet
• A year long Vimeo Plus membership
