Faded Memories

Whose room was it? The kids’? The guests’?
Who lived in there? A small family with a big fat cat?
What was the decoration like; how about the furniture?
Which fights did these walls see?
Which cries bounced back, and which laughter was echoed?
What secrets did these windows kept inside anyways?
Why, all the sudden, the owners left; why no one replaced them?

It was so beautiful inside, yet so dirty at the same time. A silent chaos of the forgotten objects winds up the room. None of those objects belonged to the house. Who have brought them in, and why? Maybe it was a restaurant before; the room I mean. A café, perhaps.

But I have seen the same boxes, somewhere else in the city. They were “newly” produced containers to hold a 15-pack of a local soft drink brand. Though I don’t understand one thing: These boxes, they look like they have been standing there for who knows how many ages.

Then, there was this smell. The humid odor of death. I’m not sure what was lying beneath the chaotic piles. Maybe just the dust; maybe just the forgotten memories of vivid lights and chatty sounds.

It’s been only five minutes, and I was there – standing outside and watching inside the room. What I have felt; I am not sure if I can tell truly, but I am really curious about the past of this room. Where are the people now, what have forced them to leave. What was this place before?

I don’t really care about the rest of the building and I can’t care less about the rest of the apartment. But this room… It is different; it is magical to me. Musical, to be more correct. I still can hear the voices echoing trough the walls into my ears like a classical symphony. They are calling me to take one last shot. They are calling me to capture one last memory.
