Layered Photography
The golden rule: Life is simple, the human mind is complex.
Note this: There are only two options to be a good artist. 1- if you can illustrate a complex situation in absolute simplicity so that everyone will understand you, or 2- if you can illustrate a simple situation in absolute complexity so that no one will understand you.
If you choose the latter; do not forget that we live in a visual world of 3 dimensions. The z-axis; however, is the least important consideration for most photographers. However, developing few frames on top of each other, or putting a few transparent objects on top pf each other, can bring you the wildest compositions.
Well that's maybe where the philosophy of a rangefinder enters into discussion because when you look through the visor things are seen on a simple plane. They really are in 2D. But with a rangefinder you actually use your eyes to capture your frames.
Nevertheless, you don't need a rangefinder to use your eyes. All you need to do is to take your eyes off of the visor, find different layers on the z-axis, see how they relate to each other, group them, attach a meaning / definition, and shoot. Once you try this for couple times; you won't fear the crowded compositions any more.
